In this story a unordinary mouse is the star and in this book he befriends a young princess named Princess Pea. In the book a rat named Chiaroscuro tries to control a girl named Gor and tries to make her kill the Princess pea. But in the end Despereaux comes in and saves his true love and the rat and Gor are sent to the dungeon. The main setting in this book is the castle.

The castle is also were Gor was sent to be a maid but then got sent to the dungeon.The books real moral is never do what some one tells you if its bad, you will pay for it. The Tale of Despereaux is a great book for all ages.
